Let me introduce myself, for those students and parents I have not met yet at St. Peter’s Academy. I have taught six years in the NYC Board of Education as a Paraprofessional in over-sized general education classes as well as special education classes, in both Elementary and Middle schools. I took time off to have a family and when my children were both in school, I went back to teaching for another three years in a preschool in Upstate NY.
Why I became a teacher
I was introduced to the wonderful world of teaching at a young age. As the daughter of a high school English teacher, teaching is definitely in my blood. I have never seen someone work so hard outside of his or her job. My mother took great pride in teaching and the work she put into it. I am proud to follow in her footsteps. As a teacher I strive to bring a love for learning into the classroom. I want to bring a sense of excitement and wonder to the students. I want the children to look forward to Mondays, knowing they’re in a caring and safe environment. My classroom is a place where no wrong answer is turned away or to be embarrassed about. My philosophy is, we are all learning something new every day, even teachers, no one knows everything; to be wrong only gives us another opportunity to learn. There is no shame in not knowing something. Embrace your questions and your quest for knowledge and we will find the answers together.
